Weekly art journal &
a question

OHMY… is it Wednesday?
Time to catch up on my blog then, isn’t it!

Before I start showing you the things I made last week, I have a question.
It was brought to my attention that my blog doesn’t look the same on every
computer screen, and for some of you the text might be hard to read…
As Patty stated “…the type on your blog is in light light gray, so I have to
lean in very very close to the screen…”

I had the same problem when I looked at my blog on my dad’s laptop so
I know what she means. It has something to do with older screens and
contrast settings. I don’t know everything about that but I DO know that
I find it important that my visitors can read my posts without trouble.

On my own screen the type shows in dark grey on a light grey background.
Because I have no idea how many of you have a problem with the text being
too light, I added a poll in the side menu.

I ask you all to please fill out the poll so I can get an idea how many of you
have this problem. I like the way my blog looks right now, but if many of you
have trouble reading my text I might consider using another colour for the
type
.
Maybe making it black is a good option?

So please fill in the poll in the side menu.
It’s done with one click – easy peasy – and it would help me to decide
if I should change thing! THANKS!

..

On to some pictures (I do hope your screen at least shows these!)

A skinny but full post!
(Freewheelin’ Friday #33)

Friday already – time flies and the days are already shortening again…
This morning there even was a hint of Autumn in the air – oh how I love
those Months when the leaves turn yellow and spiders weave their webs.
Months in which everything turns back to normal. People go to work.
Children go to school. Days when in the morning you have to put on a jacket
but in the afternoon you can do without – nice temperatures and a low sun.
September, October… (*teehee* my birthday month!)

Why was I thinking of that?
Well – in September the online workshop “Let it Loose” will start!
With the vacation ending and children going back to school, momma’s will
have time to “let it loose” – so I thought.
I went through the lessons again this week and got enthusiastic all over,
so today I will show you sneaks of what to expect in that workshop.

But first, as promised, “skinny skinnies!”

Another in between post

THANKS, dear readers, for all the wonderful comments on my last post.
I was a little bit insecure about that post at first – it’s scary to put
emotional “highlights” of your life online and although my talking about
music doesn’t seem too personal, it sure was to me!
But you all felt that right away – I think I’m right when I state that we all
have a “personal soundtrack of our life” and you all felt the importance
of it when I shared mine…

So thanks friends for the kind words and nice compliments on my writing!
(“You should do something with your writing” some of you commented…
I’m working on it ladies, I’m working on it!)

For now, I have two things to share.
Don’t want to let these stay on hold any longer…

Why I am who I am…

This is going to be a somewhat different post.
It depends on you if you will notice the importance of it.

You can look at it as just a post – a long post – and if you don’t feel like reading
you just look at the layout I made for These are a Few of my Favorite Things.
(The challenge was to scrap your favorite band) If you do that, you probably
“scan” the large amount of text that follows to see if your eye catches another
important word  (which I don’t think will be the case) – then go to the comment
section and type some nice words about what I made.
You can do that. I have no problem with that.

But this layout that I’m about to show you tells a whole story about me.
There’s a lot of emotion in there and there’s a lot of growing up that you won’t
be able to see if you don’t read the words that I wrote to go with it.
So if you want to know me just a little bit better, deeper…
I recommend you take your time to read this post.
Even listen to the music.
Watch the bands.
Bands you know,
bands you don’t know.

I’m going to explain where it all came from.
I will lift a corner of the veil.
MY veil.
This is how I grew up.
This is part of why I became who I am today.

Sold his soul to the devil?
(Freewheelin’ Friday #32)

My son was here last week!

But he met no devil , no.
Only nice people, and a lot of old blues men…
And he didn’t sell his soul – Pfew!

(Some of you – most of you maybe – will have no idea what I’m talking about
so a little explanation will come in handy I guess…

The photo of the sign was taken in Clarksdale!
Clarksdale Mississippi is the Birthplace and World Capital of the Blues
and location of the famous Crossroads intersection of Highway 61 and 49.
At the crossroads – according to the legend – Robert Johnson sold his soul
to the devil  to become the best blues guitar player of all time)

..

I like the blues – but not today.
Today I show you a layout inspired by a happy song!

Too much to handle!

I decided to make an “in between post” today.
I normally post on Mondays or Tuesdays and Fridays, but this week
I have been out of control creating so I decided to publish some of the work
in between otherwise it would be too much to handle for you on Friday!

There are things I made last week – and even the week before – that have to
stay “secret” some more – I will show you those later – but here are the things
that I did just for me and there’s no secret about it…!

I pushed her just a little bit ;)

Good morning, good morning.
It’s fun to think you all wake up in another town, another country…
and in a few hours my son will wake up here:

This photo makes me sing Bob Dylan songs!
Cryptic?
Mwaaaahhhh…. not for old hippies like me!
This is a photo of Nashville.
“Nashville Skyline” – an album by Bob Dylan.
One of my faves actually.
Especially the song he recorded with Johnny Cash:
“Girl from the North Country”…
And “Lay Lady Lay”
*sigh*

Don’t stop reading here, I won’t get sentimental.
One last thing about my son in Nashville though – he e-mailed
that he “might come home with a pair of cool cowboy boots.”
If he will, I will take pictures! Promise!

..

On to other creative outbursts (’cause my son and cowboy boots
is definitely a creative outburst!)

...and yes, there is an explanation for the title of this post!
